Soothes irritated skin in the ears! The ears and nose of the dog are its most important sense organs. Healthy ears should be relatively clean and odourless. Usually, the ears of a dog clean themselves however, it is often the case, particularly for so-called "floppy" or "droopy ears", that chronic soiling results. That can lead to an inflammation which more often than not ends with a "compulsory reaching for the infected ear".
Erect ears hardly get dirty at all. In the case of droopy or flipped ears the ventilation of the internal ear is somewhat hindered. If the ear canal is additionally covered by the ear (e.g. in the case of cocker spaniels ), bacteria and fungi can easily colonise there. When the hair inside the ears grows exuberantly and then sticks together with earwax, an ear infection can easily develop.
The ears get hotter than they usually are in the case of an ear infection. Many dogs scratch their ears and tilt their heads. Soon you can see a discharge in the ear which gives off a very unpleasant putrid odour. Some dogs press their ear on their owner's hand seeking help. In this event, you should immediately consult a veterinarian. With Ear Wash from Pet Naturals you can clean the inside of your dog's ears. To do so, carefully trickle the slightly warmed liquid into the auricle and using your hand carefully knead the ear. Afterwards, your dog will shake itself vigorously. After that you can remove the dirt from the external ear with a soft cloth. Please do not use cotton buds, only if it is absolutely necessary. Just like in the case of humans, this could cause you to accidentally push earwax into the internal ear and could increase the risk of injury when using them in the curved ear canal. Therefore, please use a cleansing tissue to clean and dry the ear.
Also pay attention to parasites (mites, ticks, etc.) or foreign matter (awns, pebbles, etc.) in the ear. You should have these removed and your dog treated by a veterinarian immediately.
